The PS3's latest firmware does more than bring cloud saves to Sony's console, if reports are to be believed; it also re-secures the PS3 against the hacks that have blighted it in recent months.

According to hacker Youness Alaoui firmware 3.60 introduces a new security system for the console that counters against the recent hacks.

"For now, it looks to me (at first glance) that the PS3 has been re-secured", said Alaoui on his Twitter account, "but it doesn't mean it can't be broken again from scratch."

Notorious hacker George Hotz was at the forefront of the hacks back in January, and since then Sony has pursued him and those using the crack with force, and at one point was rumoured to be developing a hack-proof console.
