Electronic Arts today announced it is all eliminating paper game manuals and reducing printed materials in its packaged products by 40 percent. The publisher says this initiative will apply to all PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC games worldwide going forward.
"EA is committed to a healthy and sustainable environment," said John Schappert, Chief Operating Officer at Electronic Arts. "We are reducing packaging materials, eliminating printed manuals and increasing the availability of digital content at EA.com."

EA is also implementing new Reduced Material DVD Style Cases (RMCs) for PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, and PC-DVD retail products. IGN asked EA how much money this initiative would save the company. A representative was unable to comment on the financial impact.
